A night inferno has destroyed at least 18 huts in Beldangi-I camp Wednesday night, displacing 79 individuals.
First seen at a hut owned by Ram Biswa of Sector G-1, Hut no: 92 at 9:30, the actual cause behind the mishap has not yet been investigated.
Camp based Armed Police Force has detained Biswa for investigation, Camp Supervisor Harka Rai informed.
The displaced persons are taking shelter in camp school. The schools in the camps are closed today.
Meanwhile, the Youth Friendly Center that functions under the Caritas Nepal reached the venue early Thursday morning with breakfast items for the displaced.
Various agencies’ representatives also visited the camp and observed the situation.
An all-party meeting of the stakeholders is expected sometime later today to discuss on the relief package, according to Supervisor Rai.
