Husband kills himself three months after his wife ended her life in Buffalo

Tika Ram Poudel, 35, husband of late  Ganga Poudel, who killed herself in last November, also ended his life, Wednesday, rendering his three children helpless in Buffalo, New York.

The Poudel couple along with their three children, two girls and a boy, were resettled through the federally funded third country resettlement program from Nepal-based Timai refugee camp, in 2011.

Cause of his suicide was being investigated by law enforcement agents as the Bhutanese community of Buffalo cremated his dead body on Thursday.

“The news was, indeed, heartbreaking for me. I couldn’t believe that Tika ended his life leaving behind his lovely kids. The community doesn’t know the cause of his suicide as there were nothing to suspect of any such compelling situations in that family,” a fellow-refugee from his neighborhood told BNS over the phone, requesting his anonymity.

As his relatives take care of the grief-ridden children, Poudel’s parents are learnt to be still dwelling inside Beldangi refugee camp.
