Four hydropower projects to be signed

The government of India and Bhutan have agreed to sign four new hydropower plants to begin as joint venture of the two governments. The projects include 600 MW Kholongchhu, 570 MW Wangchhu, 770 MW Chamkharchhu and 180 MW Bunakhachhu. A public sector company each from India and Bhutan shall take over the task of construction. Druk Green power Corporation, a public sector company in Bhutan  shall be taking the responsibility for developing the projects.

Seventy percent of the project costs will be raised by the company while thirty percent will be equity share between the two public sector companies of India and Bhutan.
