The Institute of Fine Arts and Commercial Arts, Bhutan International Foundation (IFACAINS) has declared scholarship for one refugee candidate for Bachelor degree program at Kathmandu University (KU).
Issuing a press statement today, IFACAINS mentioned that the scholarship program will run in coordination with the University’s Center for Arts and Design and that the selected candidate receives 50% off in tuition fees.
“For the first time in the history of refugee fine arts, we have been able to come up with a scholarship package for four years”, Pralhad Gurung, one of the co-founders of IFACAINS, wrote in the statement.
According to the statement, the winner of the scholarship will be awarded with a sum of NRs. 100,000. “The voting concluded on July 31 through social networking sites (facebook group and googlegroups) has declared Deo Kumar Rai from Bhutanese refugee camp Sanischare, Morang as the winner for the scholarship”, added the statement.
Registered in California as charity-based non-profit fine arts group, IFACAINS has been running an institute for fine arts in refugee camps in Nepal.
“We have been organizing exhibitions and workshops and helping refugees, street peoples, orphans and needy peoples through the medium of fine arts.”
