Pedestrian crossed ‘Do not walk’: police

Police authorities in Raleigh, North Carolina finally released the report of the accident that says the pedestrian who was struck and killed Wednesday morning in North Raleigh was attempting to cross the road even though the crossing light read “Do Not Walk.”

According to the police accident report, a senior Bhutanese, Nanda Lal Poudyel, 68, of Suburban Drive stepped into the northbound lanes of Falls of Neuse Road in front of a passenger car driven by Aida Isabel Medelmoss of Raleigh.

The report released by the police on Friday further stated that southbound traffic had stopped for a red light, but the northbound lanes still had a green light until just before Poudyel stepped off the curb. According to this report, late Poudyel entered the northbound lanes while the lights were yellow.

The accident took place on Tuesday at Falls of Neuse and Sandy Forks roads. Poudyel, who was taken by emergency workers to WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, was pronounced dead shortly after admitting in the hospital.
