Bhutanese team attends yet another meeting

Dec 05: Completing its several missions and scheduled demonstrations, the Bhutanese team in Geneva attend the final meeting with Dinesh Bhattarai, the Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations today evening.

With the departure of German teams, the group in Geneva consisted of eight members from Norway and the Netherlands. In a meeting organized at Bhattarai’s office, the Bhutanese group thanked for his strong concern on refugee issues and the state of minorities in Bhutan on the Universal Periodic Review(UPR) for Bhutan on Friday. The team too requested him to continue Nepalese spirit, goodwill and concern in resolving the long standing refugee crisis in Nepal.

Bhattarai, who is also the Permanent Representative of Nepal to WTO and other International Organizations, assured of raising the issue with prime importance.

to be followed if the refugees resettled in different parts of the world wished to travel to Nepal.Bhattarai assured the team of raising the issue with the Nepalese Prime Minister Madav Kumar Nepal in his forth coming visit in Copenhagen, Denmark.

“If anybody is in real need of traveling to Nepal soon, visa procedure can be processed if applied”, Bhattarai said.

Nepal government normally does not accept the free entry of the people with only travel documents. “The same had been the case before the resettlement of Bhutanese people took place but we need to address the difficulty”, Bhattarai added.
