David Brewer is a journalist with more than 40 years experience as a reporter, news editor, editor, and manager in print, radio, TV, and online.
Since 2002 he has been involved in international media development in areas where the media is still evolving.
David is the founder and editor of the free journalism and media management training resource Media Helping Media, hosted by Fojo International. He is currently working on developing and delivering distance-learning projects and mentoring in Africa and Asia, and with refugee journalists.
He started his journalistic career on his hometown newspaper and then moved to the BBC working for his local radio station in Liverpool, England. David then joined the BBC political unit in London as a bi-media reporter. He became a political editor before being selected as part of the management team for the creation and launch of BBC News Online. As managing editor David took on the role of helping define the editorial proposition, ensuring quality control, and hiring and training staff.
CNN invited David to join the American broadcaster as managing editor for the creation and launch of CNN.com Europe, Middle East, and Africa. He later launched CNN Arabic in the UAE. After leaving CNN David was invited to help with the launch of Al Jazeera English.
