The question as to how he got into water or whether he was left unattended by parents or other senior family members still remains unclear.

The community couldn’t find Darshan in the first search because of the murky water.

The Kharel family then called 911 when all the efforts to find his whereabouts failed. Later, Police used a special device to trace the dead body from the pool, according to a report.

His dead body has been kept in the University Medical Center for further investigation.

According to the latest report, the cremation will take place on August 4 at 10 am local time.

The Kharel family, which originally came from Chirang Bhutan, was resettled in AZ from Beldangi-II refugee camp in east Nepal.

His parents, grandma and one elder brother survived him, informed DB Adhikari from Tucson.

  1. Oh! My God.I am shocked to learn about the demise of such a mere child in the accident indulged in drowning. Although, such an accident in a swimming pool may surprise any one to some extent but a swimming pool to a child and a beach to an adult can be equally hazardous in comparision prior to possible risks and consequences.Any way,I extend a heartfelt condolence to the departed soul and sympathy to the bereaved family. May his soul rest in Heaven.

  2. It is really sad to know about the death of a four year old boy. Let his departed soul rest peace in heaven.
Within the few years of resettlement many bhutanese died on water. # in Spokane river, ! in nigeria Falls, another in canada… and it is shocking us more. I dont mean to say that the families of those who died were careless but to encourage all bhutanese to consider this as a genuine issue and try to control the kids , youths or other.

  3. Very Sad news,a toddler loosing his life at a tender age. Lessons must be learnt from past incidents and everyone one has to be aware of some unwanted incidents as this one.
May the departed soul rest in peace and my prayers for the bereaved families to get strength to face this irepairable loss of the loved ones.

  4. Extremely sad to hear about the untimely demise of such a wonderful child.May his departed soul rest in peace in heaven and my heartfelt condolence to his bereaved family to cope up with the tragedy….

  5. From the brooks and hills of secluded Bhutan to the apartment complexes with swimming pools and streets with traffic rules in America, the transition is overwhelming for our innocent people. The latest casualty is this child which is certainly a concern for lack of knowledge, Dos and Don’ts of the basic rules of safety. As much as we grieve ourselves for the departed souls and convey our condolences to the families of so many deceased in short span of time in the US, it is time to ask what can be done? Community leaders at all levels in close cooperation with IOM and local agencies have to create more awareness of simple “DOs and DON’Ts” be it living in a complex with swimming pool, driving in bad weather, racing in freway or just thinking of worthless life living anymore.
