Reports coming in from Bhutan said that at least one Royal Bhutan Army (RBA) soldier was killed reportedly during a cross-firing at Patabari, Leopani of Sarpang district on Sunday morning.
The state-owned Bhutan Broadcasting Service (BBS) suspected the involved of one of the underground armed outfits, United Revolutionary Front of Bhutan (URFB) based in Jhapa.
However, another group Bhutan United Socialist Democratic Party (BUSDP) has owned up the responsibility.
In a circular issued this afternoon, Press and Publicity Secretary of BUSDP, Puskar, stated that the group attached the RBA patrolling team of around 10 soldiers at 6:15 am on Sunday killing at least two on the spot.
The BBS reported that 18 shells fired from an AK 47 rifle were recovered from the scene. A home-made gun or Khaduwa, a camouflage bag, a cap, small bag, torch light, rain coat and gun powder were also found.
The statement also claimed that RBA indiscriminately fired at cadres of BUSDP. “There was no any casualty on the side of our cadres when they retaliated,” said Puskar.
The statement further said that BUSDP was compelled by the circumstances of adamant stand of the Government of Bhutan in not resolving the long standing southern Bhutanese problem thereby ignoring repatriation of exiled Bhutanese.
“Relatives of refugees, who number about 80000 are made to live with uncertainty in different census category and permanently deprived of all government opportunities,” added the statement.
The BUSDP that appeared in the scenic since April 16 this year also warned Bhutan not to underestimate the group’s strength like others in the past.

This is the result of the ignorance from Royal Government of Bhutan(Nalongs ethnics) over other ethnicity.
Bhutan is a country of diverse communities having different language, different culture, different ethnic, but the government of Bhutan still exercise only the practice of Nalongs ethnics (Ruling body). Unless, equal right and freedom is given to all Bhutanese ethnics, peace would not prevail in Bhutan.

For your kind information the army personnel who died on the spot is from Eastern Bhutan a Shorchokpa kota and another injured guy is Lotshampa nepali.
Are you sure that the attack has been from the alleged party? I feel those army personnel s are attacked by their fellow Army personnel s and blame poured upon those Bhutanese who are in exile. Or else how can they say with out any investigation that the attack has been by the BUSDP unless some of the Army personels’ involvement in the attack.
Ok now it smell another foul play of Bhutanese government over Sharshops and Lhotshampas.

Nothing will change in Bhutan while fighting each other but it might come bad conditions like that of Nepalese people facing currently in Nepal. The first thing is that India is the catalyst for us to be exiled and so unless India won’t pull out it’s hands from Bhutan policy there won’t be any changes.

It is the result of overwhelm discrimination to the Southern Bhutanese people. Ofcourse, it is a bad news but this is only the option that people are bound to take. Hopes are always there that government of Bhutan will beg pardon for neglecting its potential citizens, GOD will punish those who are evil spirited so called human beings one day, I must see this in lifetime.

i m very glad to hear this news but i m wandering who does this all.i heard this URFB and BUSDP are same groups and just make confuses the gvt n the innocent Bhutanese.The demand and the policy is good as i heard but i m wandering who does this all.so far i know they are using other groups for their own interest showing one propaganda.i hope this is not a good idea.we all want revolution and changes inside Bhutan but our self and for the goodwill of the innocent people.we don’t want to loose our country and innocent people.we want revolution but want to do own will not any else. pl z don’t misuse our movement and mislead again and make other people refugee like 1990.

we do hope to end this war and expects our brothers/sisters there at the Camps to come back to the country..but that said there are factions who do not want that to happen and wants to seek international attention in portraying the country in a negative perspective..the people in Bhutan wants the same thing as the people out there do too but what needs to be done now is that the majority of people out there should stop supporting these extremists and let the govt here come to realize that it will mean a lot to have all of you back here..
The arm struggle can never win a political situation.It has to be sensible table talk. Any faction groups who terrorise people will be termed as terrorist by the world.
