My wife and I are interested in visiting Bhutan. We are from the UK, and our government website says that visas can be obtained only through "a local licensed tour operator".

So I have three questions...

  • Can anyone recommend a good local licensed tour operator?
  • What are the places in Bhutan that a foreign tourist must visit?
  • What is the best time of the year to visit Bhutan?

Thanks

David

David,

Hope your visit will be fruitful.

1. Please make sure to visit Southern Bhutan, interior villages of Samchi, Gaylegphug, Chirang and other places, from where eviction has taken place in mass during and after the 1990s.

Best time to visit:-

Too cold = November, December, January.

Moderate = February, March, April, September, October.

Top hot, too humid = May, June, July, August.

Best months = February, March, April, September, October.

Hope it helps.

Wow, thanks RP, what a comprehensive answer! That really helps. I will get to work researching more now that I have such valuable information.

This is detailed. I am sure it will help. David, please keep in mind that it's going to be a "guided tour" because Bhutan government controls tourism !
