In a span of little more than four years, number of exiled Bhutanese opting for the third country resettlement program has crossed 66,000, thanks to the generosity of international community.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) Tuesday informed that 66,351 refugees have been resettled in various eight western countries so far. Of this, the United States has resettled 55,756 individuals.
Similarly, Canada has taken 4,727 persons followed by Australia that has resettled 3,535 people. Likewise, the number of resettled Bhutanese in other countries included New Zealand (657), Denmark (617), Norway (513), the Netherlands (324), and United Kingdom (227).
Meanwhile, the initial population of the camps has gone down to 47,511. Some 37,077 individuals of the remaining population have also declared their interest for resettlement and are being processed, informed the IOM source.
Among the four existing camps, Beldangi-II has the highest number of refugees and is 16,167 followed by 11,083 persons in Beldangi-I. The Sanischare camp still houses 11,028 exiled Bhutanese, while the population of Beldangi-II Extension is 9,045.

out of 113,862 refugees in Nepal only more than 10,000 refugees are true bhutanese may be. others may be the nepalese from cross the boarder (i.e indian nepalese). This so call 10,000 bhutanese refugees are also those who have criminal records or who have ran away from bhutan taking huge sum of money or things like rongthong kinley.

It is wonderful that you seem to have accurate number for refugees in Nepal. Why do you think that 10,000 Bhutanese are also among them and the whole camp takes the name of Bhutan? The 10,000 Bhutanese minority should have been part of the other majority instead of otherwise…. Is the international community be-fooled to give title of minority to the majority that you identify as non-Bhutanese?
