The Thunder Dragon Football Club, a youth initiative from Melbourne, is participating in the interstate football tournament organised by the Bhutanese resettled in Brisbane.

Bhutanese community players in Melbourne

The players have been preparing for last three months with the support from Hume City Football Club, one of the premier clubs of Victoria.

The unique arrangement is the initiative offered by the Bhutanese youths who volunteer for the club and in return get the football ground to play and practice and coaching from the senior coach for free.

The clubs also provides the Bhutanese youths with uniforms and balls. The team is supported financially by Football Federation of Victoria and Centre of Multicultural Youth, and in-kind by Spectrum Migrant Resource Centre, according to one of the club members.

BOA formalized
Apart from football, the youths have also formalized the Bhutanese Organisation in Australia Inc. (BOA) formerly known as Bhutanese Community in Australia to continue the community development until Dashain 2012 as ad-hoc committee that would conduct various soccer tournaments in and out of the Bhutanese community, and a grand multicultural festival involving new and established migrant communities to showcase Dashain and Tihar.

Kubir Khanal, a potential youth leader, along with 10 other youths, is leading the committee under the guidance of Parsuram Sharma-Luital. Khagendra Acharya is assisting to lead the football tournament in Brisbane.

After Dashian, NK Kharel, who is a well-respected community veteran formerly from Khudunabari camp, will lead the BOA, being supported by senior duo Tanka Nath Acharya and Khina Pati Dhimal, it has been planned.

Kharel has been volunteering to assist the Bhutanese senior groups who are being provided weekly language and other activities by Foundation House in Melbourne.

Community events ahead
Roshni Chhetri is leading group of women from BOA in a multi-faith project funded by Victorian Government and supported by AMES with the women from Assyrian Chaldean community from Iraq where they are visiting four different religious institutes: Hindu, Christian, Buddhist, and Muslim. The project provides exchange of commonality and difference between these faiths.

Roshni also led a Bhutanese dance group and fashion parade in recent refugee week celebration in Melbourne in the events organised by MRC Spectrum and local service providers.

The BOA has launched to start the Nepali dance class and Nepali language class for the Bhutanese youth from this July.

Thunder Dragon FC also participated in one day soccer tournament organised by Yeti Club where Nepali teams from across Australia were a part where Dhan Nepal received the best goalkeeper recognition.

In yet another event, Bhutanese youths also reached the semi-final in the one-day football tournament organised by Banksia Community Gardens where teams from all new and established community participated. The Thunder Dragon FC was knocked out in the semifinal.

NK Kharel is also learnt to be leading a group of senior Bhutanese to celebrate Bhanu Jayanti for the first time in Melbourne in 2012, yet to be organized.

The program includes the life history of Nepali poet Bhanu Bhakta and its significance in the Nepali language and literature around the world, informed he.

According to him, seniors will recite the poems and other literary items to highlight the importance of Aadi Kavi Bhanu Bhakta Acharya.

  1. Hi i am shocked to read this news. This news is only 0.5% correct.Yes there have been many programme organised as said above but it is lead and organised by one and name of other is mentioned. The dance programme for refugee week was not organised by the person mentioned but by Mr santa gurung and other Friends. The recent programme Bhanu Jayanti will be organised by newly formed and registered community in Melbourne known as Himalayan Bhutanese Community in Victoria.
Dear editor my concern about this news is how is this news published without being confirmed with the person involved. In my view media is the reflection of society and social activities so,it should not be falls and should not create havoc in the social life.

  2. How comes this fake news as a true , The youths of Melbourne like Santa and om have contributed the role as guidelines to the dancer from the Himalayan Bhutanese community in Victoria. The youths are also preparing to celebrate Bhanu Jayanti in Banksia garden .How the names like Nk kharel and Roshni comes under the BOA, who never want their names in any organization.

I think it is good to sit in one plateform to discuss before giving the news to published

  3. The article is not about the welfare of all bhutanese in Melbourne, Victoria. The opportunities mentioned above are not equally divided. it is mainly focused on the people who has been making him hi hi…….if not hi hi… then no DAI and BHAI. It is one of the main element which brings big fraction between the people who had strong relationship of 19 -20 years in refugee camp.

  4. Congratulation to Melbourne football team. I salute ur hard work, u have the potentiality to kiss the pick.
Furthermore, there are few invalid points jotted in the news. As per our last meet to form a new community, NK sir has withdrawn to lead the forum. But this news shows he is taking over again. I talked to all the people but they r unaware of this news and they shocked when informed that their names are included.
Please beware while giving the news. Falsify leads to great danger…..

  5. Dear editor, the news above just filled the blank space of your page but the truth remain behind.

May be some of them are true but i dont think most of them are…because i am one of the member of bhutanese community in melbourne.

This type of news will just help to bring fraction in a community. So my suggestion is please dont make the news when somebody speaks something from his/her mind.

If you want to unite all Bhutanese through BNS Please stop publishing the news that brings misunderstandings and fraction in the community. Better confirm to other member of the community because a word “COMMUNITY” is not a single person.

  6. Mr Om,
It is infact shocking to read your comment. Firstly the the dance ur are talking is of one event and the news have mentioned is another event which u have no idea. Better verify ur comment before u say. the Himalayan Bhutanese….. is a shocking to all in Australia that how you have formed by isolating all the community memebrs where few intereseted family members pushed the idea. Well done ur are dividing the new people before they are settled in melbourne.
Bhunu jayanti is not one organisation or group’s property.. i think the people who are trusted by community is also organising this event.

  7. Congratulation to Melbourne football team………..i salute your hard work and all effort u put to make it happen n u r done…..u all have the potentiality to kiss the pick.
However, some part of the news has either exaggerated or missed.
I have few questions to Mr. LAxmi
    1. May i know please where and when this BOA was formed and who are the Executive
    body of the organisation?
    2. Have your organisation ever come to the floor as listen the view of general people?
    3. Did your organisation try to find out what exactly the resettled Bhutanese wants from
    the community representatives?
    4. Is your organisation leading the community or using it?

Please do not play on the sentiment of general innocent people to highlight personal values and dignity.
    Waiting your answer please

  8. Dear Mr.Laxmi
How dare you said that the community is divided when a new community is formed and registered. Do you know how many times people of Melbourne are fooled by so called “LEADER” forming and registering community in different names. If you do not have any idea about what is going in Melbourne better do not talk about it please.People of Melbourne have suffered a lot in the name of community so this newly formed is the only solution to their problems. The people in Melbourne are not divided and will never. No programme is some one,s property but if it is organised in the community base the name of one person should not be mentioned. It is a traditional style where the name self made HERO is mentioned when people contribute to things.
Every one trust every one here in community.People here do not trust if some one thinks he is above everything.who is referred to People trusted by community??????????????.Every one trust every body.If the dance mentioned above is not something you are talking then why the other dance is not published in the news as it is also a community programme???????????.Your idea is BIAS here.Your comment has no meaning.Learn to give a meaningful comment that resolves conflict in the community if you think you can contribute something.

  9. हामीलाई थाहा छ मेलवानमा कति सम्मको राजनिति हुदै६ ।  refugee week ma bhayako first Bhutanese dance news ma नआउनु ra last day ma bhayako matra aaunu ma कतिको Melbourne बासिको  हितमा ६ होला।will the people who work for the community will make a unwanted n unnecessery reports n published on news paper ?? Miss .. Mr. Mrs.. Laxmi?????, who u r … come for the open talk with us . Don’t change ur name n post ur comments which always leads the community to wards fraction . Dear editors it’s the time for u to think about these sorts of news and also need to be aware of the person like laxmi, who always comes as a villain between the community and family relationship. Dear editors  there r some statement need to be change with in a certain time . We all melbourne people are waiting to see that u editors would make changes on this news on next publish days and would bring this dispute to compromise .

  10. MR LAXMI,
R u from Melbourne? if u r from Melbourne, come up wid ur real name like me,otherwise i know who u r. How is community divided u know that? have u ever attended a single community meeting since a year and half? if u hav attended n if u really understand what drama is going on in the Bhutanese community in melbourne, u wouldn’t have ur hell say like that, who is isolating the community members? what the hell were u talking about….”ur are dividing the new people before they are settled in melbourne”.???? In fact,u r dividing the community . Do think before u comment if u really like good leadership and that community…. this much for now

  11. Dear commenters,
the eagerness of your comment has clearely shows how worried you are with the news articles. Those who are from outsie melbourne do not know which group are commenting in the news. These group of few in Melbourne are fracturing the community in the name of organisation.
I am from Australia not Melbourne but closely follow the events..
    Dear editor,
the voice of few is dangerous than the mass who are silent. So please consider thier comments that few people are putting based on ego and baseless. The fact is few in Melbourene are engaging in putting wrong message and attacking personally to other. You will be the bset judge by seeing the level of language and credibility they present.

  12. Read the news carefully and answer the following questions:

What is BOA..???????? Where is it..???????? Is it in Melbourne…?????? When and Where it was formed…???? Who is the president of BOA..????? Why didnt u inform more then 90% of bhutanese people living in Melbourne..????? Is it a community of a family or a group….????

    Waiting for ur answers……..

  13. Mr laxmi, do u think people of Melbourne r still stupid, how dare u say u r from Australia when u r from melbourne?y don’t u come up wid ur real identity as I said above? Y r u afraid of us? Dear editor, if u think our comment is baseless and based on ego, try to ask each literate personality from other state in Australia, they will tell u the fact more or less….Mr laxmi Give all the answers for all the above comments asap and then we will judge ur credibility and come wid ur real identity like the other commenters. Otherwise dont talk about non sense things n full readers n media.

  14. Hi Mr,Mrs Miss Laxmi,
Can you come up with real name than hiding your identity.why you r much worried and get tension when you r already living out of Melbourne ??? Don’t you think stupid ??? If you r really looking our events and other things closely why dont’ you give suggestion or asked question to those people who never want unity in the Name of Leader or President.U might not believe the real things happened in Melbourne, that they always want to stick with glue in the post either in the Name of Honorary president or just a president without AGM OR VOTING SYSTEM.
Don’t you think it is autocratic????? they always want fraction in the community so that it is easy to grab advantage or benefit from the innocent melbourne community.

  15. Hey laxmi, Y u r so much curious of what is goin on in Melbourne if u r not from Melbourne. Do you know GADDHAFI n how he died….????????? come up with the real name otherwise u dont have any rights to talk and comment about the other communities which u dont belong to.
    U BULLSHIT !!!!!

  16. Hi guys,
I follow the comment interestingly. I is so amazing to see how people in Melbourne fight each other without name and in hidden identity. I would think they would talk for themselves rather than making mockery of the website.
This is the case all over where Bhutanse are… keep going… you all are fightinh for nothing for one reason that is your downfall.
All the best Prem and laxmi…. keep the drama on going

  17. Hi Dhan, jagen, prem and groups,
It looks you are representing people of melbourne only. You are very fouriously attacking people by few of you who are coming up. Looks you have personal grudge with someone and making it a community issue.
Jhagen, you are pathetic to compare community people as low as u can sink. what do u do and work? attcking people that u few are doing is good proof of ur good work. I don’t know melbourne but what I know is u r after someting else and not community benefit. Alll u comments will remain for many years to comea nd let us see the reality side of things.
ll the best for yuor attacking and go on doing and you will be rewarded sooner than later

  18. Mr Hari

“I don’t know Melbourne” is what you said in your earlier comment.
Firstly, please ring few people in Melbourne and get the facts of the ongoing issues.
Secondly, do not hover around if you don’t know exactly what is the circumstances.
Your comment shows that you know everything about the cause and issues raised by the other commentators or you are very close to Mr Laxmi who is trying to clear himself hiding his name.

    To Mr. Laxmi
Please answer my previous questions before suggesting editor to edit our comments or come to the platform with open identity to resolve the matter.

Hope to get the answer this time.

  19. Dear Mr.Laxmi, My wonder is if you are not from Melbourne who the heck you are to interfere about the problem here in Melbourne ????? If you are not from Melbourne how come you know abt the groups making comments. There are no groups here. There is only one group of all Bhutanese in Melbourne .I do not know you as you are a coward like a dumb driven cattle but I know you a man of intellectual bankruptcy who can’t come forward and tackle with the prevailing situation. How do you know it’s the voice of a few people here???its the voice of everyone here in Melbourne against some one who tries to break the bond of relationship that we have for many years .As u said above we are worried abt ?Yes we r but about your cowardness. If you think you are something then do come up with your genuine identity else do not shout like a defeated troops.I am very much concerned abt what Mr.HARI as well who is quoting about Melbourne issue.yes it’s about someone’s right to say but it’s not a personal issues .if you don’t know then it’s not wise to be judgemental please. Its not a personal fight as well.If you don’t have any idea abt how things are in Melbourne then its not your business to be involved and make a comment that is against a big mass of people who are already suffered,it’s better to put glue on your lips then to favour the tyrannical ideas of a some one.Mr laxmi if you think you are a HERO whose voice should be respected then come up with heroic deed else you are not supposed to make an adage that says its a voice of few people in Melbourne. Its you and you and you who makes people fight each other for your personal benefit as you are hiding your identity or you have no identity at all.I don’t think you have any identity that can be revealed to all.Any way if you still think to continue with this strategy to burry the voice of thousands with ur single voice then give it up please. Its the ERA where A lion dies of fear not of hunger.

  20. Mr Hari, what the hell were u talking abt all those facts n true comments of the commenters. Who is hiding the identity here? U n mr laxmi or we the commenters wid real identity? I think u got demented n depressed seeing our comments. Take anti-depressant or anti-cholenergic otherwise u can’t b controlled n keep on vomiting at public places which nobody likes. I hope u will take the above mentioned medicine n understand what is fact abt the community issue in Melbourne. Also I hope u will not forget ur real identity as well. Good luck for ur health, may god bless u. I will give u our mobile nos if u wish to talk to us openly so we can make u very clear for ur concern in near future but get well soon first….otherwise it is just meaningless to explain u that it is not just the voice of few commenters but of the whole resettled bhutanese people in Melbourne.

  21. Mr Hari

May b u r thinking that you are a great politician but not… never… ever… U are just a VIRUS of Melbourne. U just changed ur name form Laxmi to Hari to let other think u 2 r different persons. You both are saying that you are not from Melbourne and both of your comment shows that you are from melbourne. this proves that you are just a demon of Melbourne on the name of Goddess.
