The Druk National Congress said that it was sad to witness the complete destruction of historic Wangdi Phodrang Dzong Sunday by a massive fire.
“Such an incident is a national tragedy and a huge cultural loss to the country,” said Karma Duptho, the Party’s General Secretary from Kathmandu.
All the party members are heartily sad at the historic loss, he added.
Yes, we all are saddened. History is always precious and more valued is historical things. Regarding DNC, I always say- Why these political parties are speaking from Kathmandu and New Delhi only. Why don’t they practice/ exercise/ do political activities inside Bhutan. Home’s problem can’t be solved or resolved by expressing from outside or far away from home.

It’s not the time of saddened only, It’s time to lunch DNC inside Bhutan and work for the real democracy inside Bhutan. You cannot simply express what you feel but you have to do what is supposed to. I would say, not only you …everyone. And next thing is why Bhutanese inside are sitting quietly after getting the democracy that was declared by king himself. It’s time to take the opportunities of it for the sake of people. If you don’t want to do so then please give up. We don’t want to see or listen common expression that we all feel.

victims in Wangdi phodrang. We are outside Bhutan, however we are remembering to our
birth place.

Ramesh bro it is easy to advice other. In my understanding, King and his burocrats would not only play dirty politics, but if possible they would enter the conspiracy to finish all member of DNC if they remain exposed inside the country. To be honest, today also, it is a real danger to speak a single word about the fact inside the country.
No one would be sure, when you will be killed! Democracy in Bhutan is only in word and media.
Though I like you sweet comments, but the reality is – to easily exercise your political and social believe inside Bhutan is far from you and me thought. It is a big danger!

I appreciate your expression of reality. Politics in Bhutan is just an outer tooth of Bhutan’s king (Elephant).
There was no situation to live inside Bhutan in 1990 onwards , King never showed positive attitude towards Southern Bhutanese, The efforts from refugee camps – peace march were never been allowed by India……….because of Indian Border Security Law and India respecting Indo Bhutan Friendship act, Bhutan has very wrong concept about Bhutanese Refugee issue.
Never the less … Political Parties can’t stay quietly being scared of King’s rule in Bhutan. Might be lack of money there is no power of any exiled political parties to engage main powers. I guess all efforts from different levels or parties failed because -lack of money. For me it has become “Before man made money- now, money makes man”. Bhutan Government has money, political power with military and man power to assist their system. That’s why they are doing what they want without realizing the good ruling country. Rights without its good exercise, Gross National happiness without value of all ethnic groups/ tribes, Categorization of people in citizenship and its applications and Facilitating without true freedom is like a Parrot in a cage. That’s what Bhutan’s people are now.
What’s the point of Democracy when there is king as a supreme and still takes the decision, appoints the representatives of country, can’t leave like other citizen of the country, compels to ware only national dress not analyzing there are people who have different customs, forgets the development done by Southern Bhutanese volunteering hundreds of years since 16th century. I think true freedom in Bhutan’s Democracy, which was declared by king himself, will be gained when king leaves the power and it’s ruled by people’s elected representatives.
The parliament member like Sangay Khandu who advocates for the southern Bhutanese are always promoted to king’s advisor of king …from which position he/she can’t advocate for people. This is king’s policy in Bhutan to make some good person from Southern Bhutan-Powerless. We can’t imagine how many advisors changed or appointed since former king started ruling the country.
It might take time- but not impossible to bring change in Bhutan. Bhutanese has to start their journey of freedom and true democracy from their own place and flesh.

You are proudly talking about failure of democracy in Bhutan.But it is disgusting to note that,poor fellow refugees are suffering in the camps and clever people like you taking advantage of situation in the name of refugee.
Therefore, please bring democracy within the party,within the refugee community,provide equal rights and opportunity to the fellow citizen first.
