Annual Audit Report 2011 released

The Royal Audit Authority (RAA) has released its Annual Audit Report 2011 this week and has ranked at least three ministries to top the unsolved financial irregularities. The total unsolved irregularities for 2011 and up to Feb 15 amounted Nu 770.1 million.

The report, which was submitted to the King, Prime Minister Jigmi Y Thinley and the National Assembly Speaker Jigme Tshultim on May 18 based on the constitutional requirement, found that Ministry of Information and Communication (MoIC), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and Ministry of Human Settlement (MoHS) have the highest unsolved financial irregularities in 2011.

According to the report, unsolved financial irregularities included Nu 234.6 m for MoIC, Nu 202.7 m for MoFA and 72.5 m for MoHS.

“The report contains significant unresolved issues pertaining to audit reports issued during 2011,” stated the RAA in its official website.

RAA also claimed that the Annual Audit ReportĀ  was circulated to all the agencies concerned for their comments during January and February 2012 in line with Section 75(c) of the Audit Act of Bhutan 2006 and was finalized giving due consideration to the responses received from the concerned agencies.

  1. The problem is- they did not audit the King. It is a democratic country, should be no exception to any individual. However, those three (MoIC, MoFA, MoHS) offices’ head need to be send to prison soon.

    If these corrupted individual, including the Wangchucks at Thimphu are charged with strict civil laws, corruption will soon stop in here.

  2. Can’t believe JIgme TShultrim, the Speaker of the National Assembly, the biggest crook of all time is still holding the Post. He is the mastermind of Gyalposhing land scam. Land grabbed from poor villagers was allotted to the present MInisters, Royal families, Jef Khenpo, himself in the name of his son during his tenure as Dzongda of Mongar. This happens only in Bhutan. If it was not for The Bhutanese, the news paper , the scam would be buried under the carpet forever.
